Music for the Many: Labour Party Fundraiser, Holmfirth Picturedrome

posted in: News | 0

The last time I did a benefit for Holme Valley Labour Party it overturned an 8000 Tory majority.  This time, some funds were raised and the trumpet sounded on the campaign to get a Labour councillor in the Holme Valley in May 2018.  I don’t know where they got the candidate from, but he even sounded like Nye Bevin.

The cold snap (southern readers take note), stopped a couple of people making it from ACROSS THE PENNINES but otherwise it was a good turnout, and I got to perform some new material which will form part of my long piece Precinct, which will premiere (is that a verb?) at the Writing on Air Festival on elfm in March.

Well done Martin Christie for organising the event and special mention to the amazing Barry, whose avant-garde spoken word performance referenced everything from John Cage to Spike Jones.
